About Kinship Equine Therapy

Healing happens through connection.

At Kinship Equine Therapy, we believe meaningful change begins with connection — connection with ourselves, with others, with our community, and with the remarkable horses who share the journey.

Based in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Kinship provides equine-assisted services that create opportunities for healing, personal growth, resilience, and renewed hope. We serve veterans, youth, families, individuals, and members of our community in a safe, supportive environment where people can build confidence, strengthen relationships, and discover new possibilities.

Our Mission

“To empower individuals and strengthen communities through meaningful equine-assisted experiences that foster healing, personal growth, resilience and connection.”

Our Story

A shared vision. A powerful partnership.

Kinship Equine Therapy grew from a shared passion for helping people and a belief in the extraordinary connection that can develop between horses and humans.

Founders Vanessa and Donna brought together their professional backgrounds in human services and mental health with a deep appreciation for horses and their ability to create opportunities for connection, reflection, and growth.

Donna's lifelong experience with horses and background in counseling joined with Vanessa's experience in social work and her vision of incorporating horses into meaningful services for individuals and families.

Together, they created Kinship Equine Therapy — a place where professional experience, compassionate support, and the unique presence of horses come together to help people navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, build resilience, and discover hope.

Today, Kinship continues to grow its ability to serve individuals, families, veterans, youth, and the broader Northern New Mexico community.

Why We Chose the Name Kinship
“After losing my sister, I was often asked a question that carried more weight than I ever expected: ‘Who is next of kin?’ Over time, those words came to represent something much deeper than a legal term. They spoke to connection, belonging, and the people who stand beside us through life's hardest moments. At Kinship Equine Therapy, we believe healing happens through relationships—with family, community, and the horses that help guide the journey.”
